This week has been a breeze (partially because last week was an utter nightmare). B remarked that it's the happiest I've been in a long time. I attribute this to a limited amount of work, an excessive amount of free time and 0 hospital visits. This week, I've literally taken the time to smell the flowers (peonies rather than roses) and discover some of the highlights of our neighborhood! Let's hope the sun keep shining and the bliss keeps coming. Below are my favorite new Chicago discoveries:
1. Fluer - my local florist has the most adorable shop that is stocked wall to wall with springtime flowers. Today I popped in to pick up my favorite ... peonies! I worry I've over-indulged as they now fill ever vase and pitcher we own (granted that's only about 5 but nonetheless)! My loft smells AMAZING!
2. Albert and Cleo Ice Cream - Logan Square has a real life, giant white and blue ice cream truck complete with musical accompaniment. It drives "my boys" (i.e. the dogs) CRAZY! But, it's still yummy. Moreover, they sell old fashion cream sickles ... my favorite (B traditionally indulges in the nutter butter bars).
3. A Touch of Vintage - This is a vintage store right down the block from me that sells all sorts of nonsense I'm sure I don't need! However, I could go in DAILY and peruse. My latest collection is old photos. I found this amazing one of a man and a woman lying head to head in the field of wheat. All you can make out are their heads touching and their knees sticking up! Why would ANYONE get rid of this ... they are clearly so in love! It's found a home on my office board. Today, I picked up 2 hankies and a giant lace bow (that I want to turn into a headband).
4. Buena Terra - Anyone who knows me knows that I mention food ... often. This is our newest Italian dive with the best Rotini in town. LOVE!
5. Logan Blvd. - In the summer, Logan Blvd. turns into the best farmers market with rows of French bakeries in the city! I'm dying of anticipation.
These are some of my new favorites. What is currently bringing you sheer bliss?
