I haven't blogged in ages due in part to a VERY hectic holiday session, B being sick and our transition into a new apartment (Logan Square here we come!!!). And, since I'm leaving for the holidays next week ... I'm positive this lull will continue (esp. since my parents internet access is archaic). Therefore, I am posting my New Years Resolutions now ... for all to see. Hopefully, this will keep me from backing out of them on January 3rd.
5. Be more patient: I think B would list this as his number 1 priority but I have it relatively low on the list. This is partially because I think it will be a long process and partially because I'm fearful it'll never happen. This year has been a difficult one though and it's taught me that sometimes a calm heart and a steady hand is more effective than my rash overreactions (this, however, does NOT apply to the wedding. I have no sense of humor about that!)
4. Be more charitable: One of my dear friends in the city and I have long discussed becoming involved in the charitable auxilary boards here. To no avail. We have yet to do ANYTHING resembling good will. Therefore, I'm pulling her into my NY resolutions and stating that we will do for others ... despite our busy schedules.
3. Be more DIY: For months, I have been dying to learn to knit. I have even elicited D's help in this matter. I vow to spend more time making those nifty scarves than shopping for them!
2. Be more thifty: I am the queen of the statement ... "I need" and "We need." As in "You know what we really need for our new apartment B ... a series of artistic black and white photos!" As if! Therefore, in the upcoming year ... I'm going to TRY to save more and spend less.
1. Be more committed: This month ... I will have six months before B and I are committed to one another forever. Therefore, I would like to spend my year committing myself to him and also to understanding and appreciating our differences.
Happy Holidays everyone!
